Oak & Iron Rulebook (PDF) & Glossary / Quick Reference Sheet

Oak & Iron Rulebook V1.03 cover thumbnail

Oak & Iron is a naval combat board game with 1/600 scale miniatures set in the “Golden Age of Piracy” developed by Firelock Games. The Core Boxed Set comes with everything you need to get started. This includes a printed copy of the official “Oak & Iron Rulebook“. But sometimes it’s handy to have an electronic copy of the rules to be able to download it to your phone, tablet, or laptop to be able to quickly search a keyword or reference a rule on the go.

Oak & Iron Glossary & Quick Reference Guide

The Oak & Iron rulebook comes with a single-page Reference Guide on the back cover, but as with any game that releases in the wild, it doesn’t take long for hardcore fans to improve upon the maker’s design. Paul Kingtiger has developed just such a companion PDF.

The base rulebook is laid out in a format that helps guide new players through the game and how to play. It works well from a beginner’s perspective where you progress through the game step-by-step. But once you know the basics, you need the ability to look up specific rules that may be relevant. This restructuring of the rulebook turns it into a glossary and quick reference tool.

Oak & Iron Glossary Contents

  • An alphabetic list of every rule, effect, status, and upgrade in v1.01 of Oak & Iron.
  • Additional Visual aides and token marker images.
  • Includes the content from Nation/Faction abilities on the cards but not the rulebook.
  • Designer’s Notes, official FAQ, and rules clarifications made by Mike Tunez (the creator) and others at Firelock Games.
  • A 2-page quick reference sheet – EXCELLENT resource to print and use in demos for new players.
  • A single-page, step-by-step guide on starting a new game.
  • A simplified breakdown of how to build your squadron.
  • A summary of the rules for fleet battles (games with more than 2 players).
