We’ve not had new content released for Oak & Iron in a while, however, there have been updates to Blood & Plunder this year. Raise the Black is the latest expansion project for Blood & Plunder by Firelock Games. This new expansion includes a number of new scenarios. This article contains a number of new Oak & Iron scenarios converted from the Raise the Black Expansion set.
“A Wanted Man” Scenario Details
A notorious VIP has a bounty on his head and finds himself relentlessly pursued by a group of determined privateers. As the pirate’s ship maneuvers through treacherous reefs and hidden coves, the privateers close in, leading to an exhilarating showdown that will determine the captain’s fate. Will he be able to escape or he suffer the ill fate of his head turned in for the reward?
While this scenario hints at a focus on the infamous Captain Blackbeard, it is adaptable to any Faction or Admiral within Oak & Iron.
SETUP:
- The entire board is Open Water.
- The wind starts from the Attacker’s Board Edge
- Any Point Value game is allowed, 30-100pts recommended.
SCENARIO RULES:
- If an Admiral or Captain is eliminated as a casualty, each Ship in that Force gains one point of Fatigue.
- If the Defender’s flagship is Captured or Out of Action place an Objective Token on the ship or its last location. Any ship in Pistol Range of the Objective Token may spend a Crew action to take it aboard.
- The Defender will never retreat due to Strike Points.
DEPLOYMENT:
- The Defender deploys within Musket Range of their board edge.
- The Attacker deploys anywhere on the opposite half of the board and at least Cannon distance away from all Defender ships and cannot deploy Windward.
OPTIONAL RULES:
- Leaders of Men: Both players can include any legal Level 1 or Level 2 Admiral in their Force at no cost.
- Hiding on the Coastline: Add 3 shoals or rocks to the board, and the Defender’s board edge is impassable.
- Leave Him to Me: Any Flagship attacking an enemy Flagship gets a +1 Die to all Close Combat attacks.
GAME LENGTH:
10 Turns
OBJECTIVES:
- The Defender automatically loses if the Attacker controls the Objective Token.
- The Attacker gains an extra Strike Point if their flagship is Captured or Out of Action.
